Welcome every one to my new blog. This is all new to me so I am trying out new things and I am sure I will find my way. Let me tell you a little about me.
I started my journey as a teddy bear designer artist in 1988.Doing shows ,winning awards,and being show cased in teddy bear magazines and books about teddy bear artists.A few of you may remember me as Jodi Rankin.I took a break from the business in 1996 because of a major life change, a divorce that forced me to look for a job with health benefits.So with the wind out of my sails and a heavy heart I could no longer travel or felt like designing. But in 2005 I felt the call to return and this time try my hand at smaller bears all made by hand with out the use of any machines.Most of my designs are under 10 inches and usually fall at the 5 to 6 inch mark.Things have changed , and few people remember me. I had to start all over again . And this time through the wonders of the computer. Lets just say ... the computer is not my friend but I am slowly learning.I do all my own photo work and I think I enjoy it as much as designing. So with this in mind I pray you are blessed with the wonder of a smile as you take time to search through my blog.

Garage Sale Find !!!

Today is Friday and tomorrow is my last day of vacation time. It is a chilly rainy day but I was bound and determined to do my garage sales that I dearly love to do. I always have my eye out for that special treasure. The very first one I went to was being run by a man for his wife. There on a long table before me layed Boyd's, Cottage Collectibles, and other manufactured bears. He kept telling me that they were collectables, on and on and on , I just smiled. So I decided to ask the question . "How much is this bear?" he came back with a whopping $5.00 . I pulled out my $5.00 and hugged him tight ,the teddy not the man ! I asked if his wife was a collector and he replied that this was only the tip of the ice burg. I then asked the man if they had a computer and he said "yes." So I pulled out my special Bears By jodi cards and gave him one . I told him to have his wife look me up . He said " OH , are you a collector?" And I said "yes but I am also an artist." So off I went back into the rain with teddy in my arms. This is just a reminder , that when you see a garage sale there may be a new furry friend waiting just for you. This bears name is Steve and he was designed for Cottage Collectibles by Sue Coe in 2000.

Artist Profile in May issue of TBCI

Just wanting to share that I was a feature artist for the month of May in the Teddy Bear Club International incorporating Teddy Bear Times magazine. You will find my article on pages 14 and 15. Also Mr. Bumble is on page 5 at the bottom. Kirste McCool the editor of the magazine did a wonderful job , and I just want to thank her from the bottom of my heart. Fun time doing pictures!

Today was a fun day for me. The sun came out and I just felt like taking some pictures of my teddy bears.Once I started I began to have a really good time putting my bears into fun little displays. My neighbors think I am crazy because I do this on my front porch ! But you know what ? I am having more fun than they are ! And they may see me more this week because I have the whole week off from my retail job !! YIPPIEEEEEEEEE I feel so free, you have no idea !
